Here's a thought how about an official goodbye thread
OK OK here me out. I don't agree with free rants and my post isn't one of them but the people that are this upset over recent changes want to let Anet know why they are leaving. So that changes can be made to make the game as enjoyable as it was. If there was a spot for this people would get they're "well I've done what I can and maybe it will make a difference" out of the way. I've noticed quite a few people in my small circle that aren't on nearly as much as they used to be. Our alliance even fell apart because most of the other guilds quickly thinned out. Number of posts don't lie just look at the SR thread 2000+ right now. I'm pretty sure that thread was started before the Loot Scaling. While the SR nerf doesn't affect me it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know there are a lot of people upset over this issue. I would be very curious to see how many posts would make it to a stickied thread like that. I've personally decided I'm not a quitter I want to do certain things in the game and I'll just have to do them with characters that are completely broke. Once I became ok with this it hasn't been as bad.
Is it as enjoyable not to be able to buy keys or as many because you bought cap signet/s for elites. No but you get used to it.
Take one second though and actually think about my post.
Then... 'FLAME ON' as a fiery Fantastic Four member is fond of sayin.

The only backlash I could see coming from that is people saying goodbye, then saying nasty things. We have an offical introduction/hello thread, so it'd be logical to have a farewell one.

LoL QFT. Don't let the door hit you on the way out I would say. No need to announce it.

Why bother saying good bye if you are either taking a break or quitting? Unless it is a good bye to forum members entirely outside of the game, there is no real reason to let everyone know you are quitting on a specific forum. Bryant Again is right about there being an official thread, though. For space reasons if nothing else....
"Hey, I quit, but there is a lute worth 20 silver that is cool!"
Hmmm... Eh, I guess there is a legit reason if Gaile - or other important people - makes one, maybe? Other than that, I do not see many people caring about the act in general terms.

So this wouldnt be a nice pleasant thread for people to say... "Ive had a wonderfull time playing GWs, and now im moving onto pastures new! Good luck all"!
It would be a blackmailing thread for Anet, for people to say... "Im fed up that Anet doesnt change the things I want, so im leaving. Nice work Anet!"
I cant say I'm loving that idea! And im sorry, but who really cares whether players leave the game, for what ever reason?

I doubt anet will miss you or anyone else who posts a QQ good-bye thread. Logically, any company should be upset if it's losing customers, but the fact is, anet already has your money. Their bizarre decision making process regarding in-game features suggests they aren't too worried about inspiring brand loyalty in their customers, and are probably looking ahead to GW2.

Also another flaw i see with a thread like that is lots of times people say they are gonna quit , or even post goodbye threads themselfs, just for them to return to the game in a few days. When people get upset they say things they don't mean and like others have said we don't really care and to the people that do care about a certain person leaving most of the time they already know the reason.

Who are you saying good bye to anyway? People here on the forum? I know the op is not going but c'mon it's not like you're moving to the new town, country etc. Saying bye to the guild is one thing, this is just way to weired.

They suck because goodbye threads inevitably turn into ragequitting threads.

Why would you make a new thread to say goodbye anyway? No one cares if you are quitting, except maybe for those who know you. In which case, tell them, not everyone else on guru. What a stupid idea. Merged goodbye thread, talk about waste of bandwidth...

I quit because I don't like hexes, hard mode is gimmicky and lame instead of being balanced and requiring skill like pvp, we don't have a hairdresser or an auction house, ancient shields on female monks are bugged, cause THEY NERFED MY NECROO!!, and because I didn't get a Gwen minipet and I REALLY LOVE GWEN!! Yep. So that's it. GOODBYE FOREVER!!
...
*continues playing Guild Wars*
See where I'm going with this? This'll just turn into a thread of people bitching about stuff they don't like, and all they have to do is say they quit.

Depends on the mods cleanup activity? If the mods lock too many for their tastes, they could save time by watching one thread that most people can blissfully ignore.

Ya wanna know why that type of thread isn't a good idea? 1. People will flame and bash those leaving faster than a moderator can close the thread. 2. Very few people (if any) will care.

In Ultima Online, I had a friend. He was still playing UO 2 years ago, and might still be playing it.
He had 6-8 quitting parties, with giveaways, drama, multiple threads. I did not attend them anymore after the 3rd...^^
He was not done with the game. Such "I am leaving" threads are just a cry for attention or some addicts that cannot get over their addiction. Expect people to post in such threads after each skill balancing.
They serve no purpose. Nobody is really gone when he is quitting more than other people are playing the game.
If you are done, just go.
People who really care for you will find you or know friends of yours that can tell them that you quit. No need to spread this eartshaking news on public forums. Especially if you come back after a week or so...

Agreed, Longasc. You notice that these types of threads only happen for MMOs and MMO-type games. You never get "I'm quitting and never coming back!" threads for games like Mario, Need for Speed or Unreal Tournament. When people get tired of those types of games, people just stop playing them. What a novel idea!

People who want to make a 'statement' before they leave really dont want to leave at all... (like my wife sometimes...she will get upset and leave the house...not because she wants to leave... but because whe wants me to come after her...spoiled little cus... JK... I love her) so this would really just become a rant thread. If you really hate GW then just leave... and let the rest of us enjoy the game.

The trolls love these kinds of threads. This would never get mod approval anyway, they will shut any such threads on sight.
